Care instruction of piercings

how to take care of piercing healing

Piercings should generally be disinfected for another 3–4 days, which helps to avoid early infection of the wound.

After that, disinfectants are more of a hindrance than a help in wound healing. (All disinfectants are also toxic to the tissue, not just the bacteria!).

Alcohol has proven to be the best, whether you take 40% schnapps or 70% alcohol, or agents such as Octenisept (hexidine), iodine solutions, etc. Merfen must never be used for longer than 3 days!

The wound should also be washed every other day, preferably with pH-neutral soap. Then turn the piercing in the soapy bath and push it back and forth. This loosens crusts and cleans the puncture canal.

Do not play around with dirty fingers on the piercings, or constantly move them.

Above all, just leave piercings alone!

Salt baths, saline solutions, bathing in the sea have proven helpful in healing in the later stages.

If irritation and redness occur in a late healing stage, repeated disinfection treatments, e.g. with Betadine soap, or dripping on tea tree oil can help.
