Initial piercing jewelry is mostly made of titanium , sometimes stainless steel. It is a high-quality, non-rusting stainless steel alloy with an extremely low nickel content. In a first quality called Implantanium, in a second, with a slightly higher nickel content, so-called surgical steel ISO 316L. Both steels are manufactured according to EU standards. The quality of the implant steel is also suitable for people who are allergic to nickel, the steel 316 only with reservations. Most of the smaller piercing parts up to 1.6 mm in diameter are made of implantation steel or titanium, the larger ones are made of 316L steel.
